I spent most of my childhood growing up here in Byron, MN. I graduated from BHS in 1979, and opened Satin & Silks Bridal & Formal Wear in 1982 which has gone through 4 expansions to now become known as The Prom Shop. I love running The Prom Shop because every year is completely different than the last, not only in dresses, but in the shop decor and even the social media aspect of the business. The Prom Shop is a never ending learning experience to make sure our customers get the absolute BEST experience possible here!
What I love about this years styles: This year it's all about the fabric. My favorites are definitely the classic styles but in one of the new fabrics for Prom 2018; mikado, jacquard, lace, and glitter metallics just to name a few. For Accessorizing your dress I would say the must have accessory to go with these gorgeous looks is the new amazing belts that have been incredibly hot this year. The shoes styles this year are amazing and I say go as high of a heel as you can handle.
My favorite thing about working here every day is that even though we all live in an extremely busy lifestyle, I get to see families and friends shop together. It is so amazing to see them laughing and having a great time together, while helping a daughter, sister, granddaughter, or close friend find that perfect dress. It is a memory that each of them will always remember.
Hi! I’ve worked here at The Prom Shop for over 6 years now and I still love every day of it. My favorite thing to see at the shop is the girls faces lighting up after they find the perfect dress of their dreams.
As for styles I am partial to one piece dresses with a fuller skirt. I love the portrait necklines matched with bigger chunky stone earrings. One of our newest accessory items that has definitely caught my attention is the belts, it completely changes the look of a dress if you add one of our new rhinestone belts. Talk about bringing a dress up a notch! Well I’m a mom so i believe in comfortable shoes and a hairstyle to match the look of the dress.
One tip of advice for prom girls…...This is your prom! You don’t need to get your dates approval unless he is paying for your dress. He should have to wait to see you on the day of your prom it will make it that much more special.
Some of my favorite shoppers are the dads who come in to shop with their daughters and how they will sometimes tear up when they see their little girls in the perfect dress.
Lastly, I am so proud of our staff at the Prom Shop as they all really do care about helping each girl find that “perfect dress” and they all know the stock so well they will search the store high and low looking for that one perfect dress they know will be the one!
I grew up working and helping out at The Prom Shop for as long as I can remember. I have been running the registers here for the last five prom seasons. I graduated from Byron High School in 2004. I wore an aqua ball gown from The Prom Shop my junior year and a black high-low with wrap up shoes my senior year.
I am a 4th grade teacher in Hayfield, MN and also coach volleyball. When I am not teaching, coaching, or working at The Prom Shop, I enjoy traveling to new places, playing volleyball, and doing anything outdoors.
Favorite Prom Style: I love the floral two-piece gowns.
My favorite part about working at The Prom Shop is the family experience. I love seeing daughters looking for dresses with their siblings, moms, and especially when dads come in to help in the search.
I have worked at the Prom Shop for 3 years now. I am kind of the grandmother of the shop. I spend all my time doing the background work getting all of the dresses ready to go out onto the floor. But I would have to say my favorite part of working here is the look on the girls faces when they see the dress of their dreams.
I’ve worked at The Prom Shop for 4 years as a sales associate, but I started here as dress runner (helping get dresses back out of the floor as soon as possible). So I’ve been working with The Prom Shop for 5 years. I have been to 3 proms, so I have a lot of experience with prom and the dresses.
My favorite style is a classic A-line because they are simple and elegant. My favorite part of being a sales associate is finding the perfect dress for that girl who doesn’t think she looks good in anything. Then she tries on the dress and falls in love. It’s such a great feeling not only for her and her family but also for me. It’s so much fun to see the increase in self confidence.
Outside of working at The Prom Shop I love to do just about anything outdoors, especially hiking and rock climbing. I spend a lot of my time working with kids in afterschool programs and volunteering with Big Brother Big Sister.
This is my second season working at The Prom Shop!
My favorite style of prom dress varies with my mood. Some days I love elegant mermaid dresses and other days I love fun and colorful ball gowns. What I enjoy most about working at The Prom Shop is helping young women find the dress that makes you feel beautiful.
I love everything about Prom!!! It creates so many memories with your friends and with the right dress, you can be unstoppable. The must have accessory for prom this year is earrings and a garter. Earrings help complement your dress, and a garter is something fun to resemble your dress for your date. I definitely love high heels!! High heels help complete the prom look.
I am outgoing and love to help people. I am a a two-year All-American cheerleader. I am obsessed with Grey’s Anatomy and Chipotle. I have lived in 7 different states.
My goal is to help you find the perfect prom dress. I want you to not only have a great experience at The Prom Shop, but for you to find the dress to make prom memorable as well.
My name is Lexi Johnson, and I am a Junior at Winona State University, pursuing a degree in marketing, with a professional sales and RTTR minor. My favorite hobbies include: playing soccer, dancing, shopping, doing anything adventurous, and watching The Office.
I've had the privilege to work at The Prom Shop now for two years! My favorite thing about the job is interacting with girls from all over, to help them find their perfect dress. Styles are constantly changing, and new trends appear in the store every year! But my favorite type of dress is simply something no one has seen before; the more unique the better. Everyday is special here, but one memory I hold with me, is when a young girl thanked me with a hug, and the comment "I have never felt more beautiful". Finding a dress that each person loves and feels beautiful in, is what I love to do most. And no matter what anyone says, Prom season is the most wonderful time of year!
This is my first year working at The Prom Shop as their photographer. I love working in a positive atmosphere and making connections with the girls that come in. I went to prom my sophomore year and my favorite part of it was getting my hair and makeup done and finding the perfect dress to fit my personality! I also love the dance and getting to see my friend’s dresses! The most essential prom accessory is a big pair of earrings and a sparkly pair of heels. In my opinion both of these things complete the entire look! I’m a junior in high school and I’m involved in FFA, 4-H, S.A.D.D., TLC Youth Group, TLC Youth Board, volleyball, and track. In my free time I like to take photos, travel, hangout with family and friends, attend sports, hike, and spend time on the lake!
This is my first season working at The Prom Shop. I go to school in Byron and this will be my second year going to Prom. My favorite thing about working at The Prom Shop is the look on the girls faces when they find their perfect dress. Prom 2018 predictions: I like the mermaid style dresses and I tend to like the one piece dresses. As for accessories I love bling and definitely updos for prom hairstyles. When I am not working at The Prom Shop I am involved with dance, 16 years now, and various other clubs at Byron High School.
This is my first year at the prom shop. My favorite designer is Jovani. My favorite thing about working at the prom shop is watching the girls light up as they find "their" dress and helping them find jewelry. I love helping the girls pick out dresses and having the moms and grandmas coming in and helping the girls shop.
My favorite thing about prom is getting dressed up and taking pictures! My favorite memory at the prom shop would be our Saturday meetings!! They can get crazy! I love talking with all the other employees!
This will be my second year going to prom and I'm super excited!! I'm super glad that I have two more years as well! The must have accessory for prom in my opinion is earrings! They definetely "set" the dress, so you need to find the right earrings for your dress.
I don't have a preference for either two pieces or one piece dresses, last year I had a two piece and this year I have a one piece, I like to mix it up! When it comes to hair it definately depends on your dress. My opinion is to go off your dress!
I love working. I love helping people and organizing! If you need help finding a prom dress I'd be happy to help!! Come down to The Prom Shop and see me!
Hi my name is Jodi Klocke and I’m the newbie to this group; with just starting employment this year. I am a Wife and working Mom of 2 grown children, who was looking for a something fun to do to make the winter months go by faster. I have to admit that when I was looking for a second job at the Prom Shop, sewing wasn’t on my mind! However, I guess things work out for a reason; because I love it. That’s right, folks, you will rarely see me out front; as I will be in the back mending and sewing on those lovely dresses that you have come to love. Some people exercise or read a book for therapy…… I play with Sequence, Beads, threads, needles and even glue for mine!
